The Strathbogie Shire is home to three major award-winning wineries and countless boutique vineyards all dotted within a short drive or boat ride from Elloura.
Tahbilk Winery is one of Victoria’s oldest family-owned vineyards, producing award-winning wines and offering a cellar door and café for those long lazy weekends in the sun.
Mitchelton Winery is another favourite among the locals, an iconic winery, restaurant and cellar door that’s been in existence since 1969, specialising in Shiraz, Riesling and Rhone blends and boasting an 18,000 cubic metre underground cellar. Mitchelton is also host to the newly built Ministry of Chocolate factory, they are committed to producing high quality chocolates and cakes by using only the finest couverture chocolate from Belgium and France as well as fresh local ingredients and innovative flavours.
The Strathbogie Shire is also home to Fowles Wines, a family-owned vineyard boasting over 500 acres of grapes. Fowles was awarded 11 medals at the 2014 Victoria Wines Show.
The annual Victorian Wines Show is held in the Strathbogie Shire, awarding the best in wines across the state.
